The scheme will apply to all new hires into regulated activity from November 2010. Eventually 11 million people will be covered by the scheme. Once an individual is registered on the scheme, they are registered on it for life. The cost will be £64 and includes an enhanced criminal disclosure, Once an individual is on the scheme, their data will be instantly updated online if their status changes. Future employers and agencies supplying workers into regulated activity will have to check an individuals status to see if they are suitable for such work.
