Our Statement

de Poel is committed to considering the outcomes of all the organisation's actions on the environment, local communities and the world at large. Where possible de Poel will try to be a positive influence on the communities and the industry sectors in which it works and will endeavour to reduce its environmental impact to a minimum.

Our Policy

de Poel recognises its corporate social responsibility commitments and these are reflected in the following seven sections.

Standard of business conduct

We are committed to ensuring that our business is conducted according to rigorous ethical, professional and legal standards.

Employees

We aim to deliver a competitive and fair employment environment and the opportunity to develop and advance within the organisation, subject to personal performance and business opportunity.

Every employee is responsible for ensuring that any contact with our customers, suppliers and the public at large reflects professionalism, efficiency, integrity and honesty.

Suppliers

We regard our suppliers as partners and endeavour to work closely with them in order to help us achieve our Corporate Social Responsibility policy aspirations.

Health and Safety

We are committed to continuously improving our health and safety performance in order to ensure that the working environment is safe and fit for its intended purpose.

Community

We strive to be a good citizen wherever we operate, recognising our responsibility to work in partnership with local communities.

Environment

Our objective is to endeavour to reduce our impact on the environment through a commitment to continual improvement. For further information see de Poel’s environmental policy. The above statements reflect de Poel’s corporate social responsibility position. We recognise that our business activities have varying direct and indirect impacts on the society and environment in which we operate. We endeavour to manage these in a responsible manner. We are committed to continually reviewing our corporate social responsibility programme in order to ensure its effectiveness.

Scope

de Poel’s corporate social responsibility programme applies throughout the organisation, is applicable to all our employees and governs our approach to all our activities.

Responsibility

Implementation of our corporate social responsibility programme is firstly the responsibility of our senior management team but is also the responsibility of all de Poel employees.

Human rights and ethical trading policy (HRET)

de Poel complies with the following ethical trading policy and actively encourages compliance by its suppliers.

Freedom of the person

Employees are free to leave their employer after reasonable notice
Employees have the right to join legally recognised labour unions

Health and Safety in the workplace

Employees have the right to a healthy and safe work environment
Workers shall receive appropriate health and safety training

Fair remuneration

Staff shall receive remuneration reasonable and comparable to that offered
Working hours shall be reasonable and not place undue demands upon the employee.  Employees will be provided with clear written information regarding their employment conditions in respect of their hours, wages and employment conditions

Deductions from wages as a disciplinary measure shall not be permitted, nor shall any deductions from wages not provided for by national law be permitted without the expressed permission from the worker concerned.  All disciplinary measures should be recorded.

Diversity

There shall be no discrimination in hiring, compensation, access to training, promotion, termination or retirement based on race, religion, disability, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, age, union membership or political affiliation.

Opportunity for development

Opportunities for personal and career development shall be provided regardless of religion, disability, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, age, union membership or political affiliation
de Poel also supports a number of local community projects and charitable organisations through monetary donations or the donation of equipment.
