de Poel is committed to reducing its impact on the environment by continuously improving the way in which it uses natural resources and reducing waste.
To achieve this de Poel will seek when possible to:
- Make the most efficient use of energy
- Reduce the need for movement of both people and goods and encourage walking, cycling and the use of public transport as alternatives to the private car
- Minimise and where possible, eliminate, all forms of pollution
- Avoid waste and encourage the appropriate conservation, re-use and recycling of resources
- Promote a sense of responsibility and understanding for the environment and participation in environmental issues, by raising staff awareness
- Review and where possible, improve our performance each year with positive action an any areas of non-compliance.
Examples of activities currently undertaken:
- Purchasing of recycled and lower emissions products where possible. Ex: recycled paper, lower energy consumption equipment
- Reduction in use of electricity. Ex: all equipment and lights switched off while not in use
- Reuse of materials where possible. Ex: donation of old computers, laptops and mobile phones to charities
- Recycling of waste products. Ex: printer cartridges, cans, paper and plastic
